Pupil Leadership

Roles and Responsibilities for Pupils

Giving children roles and responsibilities at Malden Parochial school offers numerous benefits, both for their personal development and the community.

Personal Development and a Sense of Belonging

  • Sense of Ownership: When children have roles, they feel a sense of ownership and pride in their work, which boosts their self-esteem.

  • Skill Building: Responsibilities teach valuable life skills, such as time management, organisation and teamwork.

  • Accountability: Learning to be accountable for their duties helps children understand the importance of reliability and trustworthiness.

  • Confidence: Successfully fulfilling roles can boost children's confidence in their abilities and encourage them to take on new challenges.

  • Community Involvement: Roles create a sense of community and belonging as children can contribute to the upkeep of the school's environment.

  • Recognition: Recognising and valuing each child’s contributions fosters an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels appreciated.

  • Social Skills: Engaging in responsibilities helps students develop social skills and builds positive relationships with peers and staff.

Our Christian Vision

Reflecting the Kingdom of God by Enriching and Transforming Lives

The roles and responsibilities that children are given can be seen as a way to reflect the Kingdom of God through

  1. Service: Encouraging pupils to serve others aligns with the act of service to the community.

  2. Stewardship: Teaching children to care for their school and community fosters a sense of stewardship, which is a key Christian principle.

  3. Transformation: By actively participating and contributing, pupils experience personal growth and transformation, echoing the enriching and transformative power of living a life in Christ.

  4. Values: Roles and responsibilities instil values like compassion, justice, and respect, which are integral to the Christian vision of a just and loving community.
