Our House System

We have an active House System, each named after the patron saints of the United Kingdom each of which links to one of our Christian values.

Why Have a House System?

A house system helps pupils feel they belong. A sense of belonging can protect children against mental health issues as children who feel they belong are generally happier, more relaxed, and exhibit fewer behavioural difficulties. Belonging is linked to better academic performance because when children feel accepted and supported, they are more motivated and engaged in their learning. Feeling a sense of belonging helps children develop positive self-esteem and identity and emotional stability is crucial for their overall well-being. A sense of belonging fosters social connections and friendships, which are essential for developing social skills and a sense of community.

This increased sense of community involves mixed-age groups, allowing younger pupils to interact with older ones which forms friendships across year groups. Wearing house colours develops a shared identity and participating in varied house events can give pupils a sense of pride and identity. Friendly competitions between houses can motivate pupils and create a sense of camaraderie.
